NEW YORK – The Arena Football League’s 22nd season officially kicks off in 25 days as the AFL becomes the first professional league to begin its season on February 29.
The season gets underway as the Los Angeles Avengers host the New Orleans VooDoo at 10:30 p.m. ET from the STAPLES Center.
Kickoff weekend is highlighted by two nationally televised games that feature all four division champions from 2007, including a rematch of the past two American Conference Championship Games.
On Saturday, March 1, the ESPN/ABC season begins as the defending Southern Division Champion Georgia Force welcomes the two-time (2006, 2007) defending Eastern Division Champion Dallas Desperados at 1 p.m. ET on ABC.
In the season’s first installment of Russell Athletic ESPN Arena Football Monday, the defending ArenaBowl XXI Champion San Jose SaberCats begin their title defense on the road as they travel to Allstate Arena to face the Central Division Champion Chicago Rush on Monday, March 3, at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
Training Camps began with two teams reporting on Saturday, February 2, and three teams reporting on Sunday, February 3. Eleven teams will report throughout the week and Tampa Bay will be the last team to open camp on Monday, February 11.
